About the project:

Electric Miles is a cleantech company developing the world’s most intelligent
Internet of Energy (IoE) electric vehicle charging solution.
We connect EV and home batteries with the best computer intelligence to help users
save energy costs, be more efficient, and reduce overall energy.
Using the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, our platform selects the most intelligent charging schedule combining low tariffs, vehicle journey needs, and a low carbon footprint, and automatically initiates and terminates vehicle charging to reduce user inefficiency that drives up costs.
The National Grid is facing increasing and significant stress due to the massive electrification of our transportation fleets. The various grid companies offer flexibility contracts to demand side aggregators such as Electric Miles to solve this problem.

We recently closed our Seed funding round with 3 rounds previously closed and have growth projections to have 500k users globally to help scale EV charging.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Backend developer with the main focus on the backend, to help
us work on our cloud-based platform to deliver the future of Smart, Intelligent EV charging.

We’re building a supportive, inquisitive team who enjoy solving problems in
a customer and product focused way.

You will be thinking ahead on our technical roadmap, ensuring the features we are
building will enable us to scale the product to as many users and clients as possible.
You’ll be thinking about how features and modules can be built in a maintainable and
reusable way while finding the right balance to deliver features quickly.
You’ll mentor and advise other engineers in the team, and encourage knowledge sharing
and a collaborative environment to work in. You’ll be driven in developing your own skills,
evaluate new technology trends, and identify how to leverage these to improve the ways we work.

What you’ll do:

• Technical leader of a team of backend and frontend developers.
• Develop software and automated testing for our EV Charging components.
• Design internal and external APIs.
• Proven experience of working with offshore and nearshore developers.
• server-side architecture (Design client-side as an optional responsibility).
• Keep track and ensure compliance with industry specifications and standards such as Oauth.
• Enjoy working in a cross-functional agile team, and take part in our process improvement
• We’re a DevOps culture, so help us maintain our CI infrastructure and build for observability and resilience.
• We’re relied upon to drive critical infrastructure, so security is at the heart of what we do
• Triage and troubleshoot operational and customer issue

What you’ll need:

Must:

• Good level of English :B2+ (Speaking and writing).
• 4+ years’ experience working with Python, PHP, Django, PSQL, Celery.
• 4+ years’ experience working with AWS using serverless and containers like Lambda/Serverless, API Gateways and ECS or Docker.
• 2+ Data source experiences such as PostgreSQL and Redis
• Infrastructure and deployment management using Terraform, CloudFormation,
  IoT or Connected Device ex.
• Strong knowledge of the release process of mobile application.
• Strong knowledge of the testing process of mobile application.
• Proven experience in technology, especially with the analysis, design, development and implementation of complex critical systems.
• A solid academic background preferably in engineering, sciences or economics.
• Experience working with cross-functional and distributed teams.
• Experience in project and/or agile planning of project and development deliverables.
• Working with Agile/Kanban methodologies.
• Quality and testing initiatives such as Unit testing, TDD and BDD and associated frameworks like Cucumber IoT or Connected Device experience.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Design and Develop scalable REST and message-driven APIs and services in Python or similar.
• Experience developing desktop and mobile applications.
• Experience of leading technical development of a product and proactively helping the team with technical challenges.
• Experience in product development.
• Experience of mobility solutions and standards such as OCPP.
• Security-driven processes such as DevSecOps.
• Quality and testing initiatives such as Unit testing, TDD and BDD and associated frameworks like Cucumber.
• Building for observability and monitoring solutions such as New Relic, Cloudwatch and Sentry.

Nice to Have:

• Gateways and ECS or Docker is a big plus.
• Experience of working as a Technical mentor to the team members
• Knowledge of Front-end frameworks (Ionic, ReactX) and backend languages such as PHP, Python etc.
